Colour field painting is a style of abstract painting that emerged from New York in the 1940’s and 1950’s. It was inspired by European modernism and closely related to abstract expressionism. Its characteristics are large blocks of solid colour. These are my interpretations of colour field art, influenced by Mark Rothko.
